Automata 2004

Tenth Annual Workshop on Cellular Automata

August 18-20, University of Karlsruhe, Germany

Thank you        We like to thank all participants for their contributions and W. Augustin, R. Dosch and J. Mathes for their work behind the scenes.
Pictures Kenichi Morita has taken pictures. They are available at http://www.iec.hiroshima-u.ac.jp/~morita/AUTOMATA2004pictures/ .
Hidenosuke Nishio has taken pictures. They are available in the local sub-directory nishio-pictures/.
Date        The workshop will take place from Wednesday, August 18th, to Friday, August 20th, 2004. It is the first little anniversary in a series of workshops organized by members of IFIP WG 1.5 on cellular automata.

Please note that after the workshop from Sunday, August 22nd, the IFIP World Computer Congress including its TCS 2004 conference will take place at Toulouse, France, as well as MFCS 2004 at Prague.

Location Fakultät für Informatik, Universität Karlsruhe, Germany.
The talks will be given in room -102 (Informatik-Multimedia-Hörsaal) of building 50.34, which is the main building of the Fakultät, located at Am Fasanengarten 5.
The university campus is close to the city center and the castle.
Topics All aspects of cellular automata, such as
  • cellular automata in topological dynamics
  • algorithms for cellular automata
  • cellular automata as discrete models in the sciences and engineering
  • evolutionary computation in cellular automata
  • cellular automata in ergodic theory
  • complexity issues in cellular automata
  • algebraic and geometric properties in cellular automata
  • generalizations of cellular automata
Publications Traditionally presentations at the workshop are not reviewed in advanced, but several special issues with full papers of workshop talks have been organized with different scientific journals.

This time a special issue of the new International Journal of Unconventional Computing will be organized .
